Star Wars Celebration Japan was an out of this world experience! It's an honor to be in the closing ceremony video after attending two previous Celebrations. I also met Kathleen Kennedy, President of Lucasfilm, when she came to the Anime/Manga Pavilion along with a few others from her team. Cosplaying Kouru, the Sith Bandit Leader in Visions Volume 1, has been a joy since I get to express a stronger side of me, which led to the short clip in the video. My other cosplay, an interpretation of Mother Talzin from The Clone Wars, was shown twice because I gave the film crew an opening and closing shot that was perfect for the video.
Celebration is truly that, a celebration of the fandom. Mine started with seeing Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope with my aunts and siblings at a movie theater in the Philippines. I was barely 7 years old with no clue of what growing up will be like but that movie made such an impact. Hope. That is a fuel to my passions and my work in fighting for change in the system that was not designed for people who are different than others.
With the event coming to Los Angeles in 2027, I am already looking forward to celebrating with my friends and creating new memories in this fandom.
